The Ravenglas & Eskdale Railway in nearby Eskdale provides an amazing small gauge steam train experience for all age groups. They run a regular timetable through most of the year and the journey from Boot to Ravenglass passes through some stunning countryside.

The castle is located on the coast, near Ravenglass and claims to be one of the most haunted buildings in the UK. It has loads to offer including the castle itself, Himalayan gardens, Hawk & Owl centre and many special events throughout the year.

The Newfield Inn is an authentic Lakeland Inn, serving good food and a well kept pint. It’s around a mile and a half from the cottage and is easy walking (well, on the way there anyway).

Fishing

Millom & District Angling Associations ( www.millomanglers.co.uk ): The club provides day ticket fishing for Salmon, Sea Trout & Brown Trout on many waters in the area, including the Duddon River, just down the road at Hall Dunnerdale.

Seathwaite Tarn: Day tickets for Brown Trout fishing in the nearby Seathwaite Tarn can be purchased at the Newfield Inn (see link above).

Walking / Cycling

There are immeasurable paths and trails in the area and many fells to climb within easy reach. More information and maps can be found in the cottage. Bike hire is available at West Lakes Adventure, as above.
